#GraceMatters "Leaps"

August 5, 2015

The leap of faith is a total journey in itself. Though it seems like it only takes one simple step- that first step alone can leave you feeling paralyzed in fear, self-doubt, and negative thoughts.

For instance, for me, starting things is fairly easy. When I was a teenager, I started a lawn mowing business and a small babysitting service. As I grew older, I've started numerous other projects, from college to relationships, faith-based blogs and even online magazines. Some ideas where very successful, others were a waste of time, money, and resources (epic fails!). Yet the one thing I've learned from these experiences is that they all had their time, place, and purpose. Just think about what would have happened if I did not take that leap of faith and follow God's still, quiet voice... Left up to me, I hit many trials and errors, but left up to God- He always has a purpose and a plan.

In John 4:9, there was a woman at the well who illustrates the true meaning of leap! A Samaritan woman tells Jesus, "How can you ask me for a drink- you are a Jew and I'm a Samaritan woman." Not only does she separate herself as a different culture, religion, and personhood, but she also separates herself by gender when she states that she's a woman. Yet, Jesus clears all of these descriptions, titles and blinders by refocusing her on His purposes. He shares how we can have eternal life through living water.

Jesus answered her, "If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water." - John 4:10

For water will make us all thirsty again and longing for more, yet God has the love, peace, and power to quench our thirst, longing, and desire with eternal life. A simple leap, with faithful guidance can turn into a lifesaving journey.

All in all, sometimes we feel unworthy because we put ourselves in a box or categorize ourselves as something or someone less than how God see's us. We must break free of this negative thinking and shed the boundaries of titles. We are the human race, children of God, and He calls us friend!

Each of us are important to God-

no matter who we are or what we've done.

Join me right here, at the well on Wednesday's. I hope I can serve as your faithful voice of support, encouragement, and empowerment. #GraceMatters
