On May 7, 2016, Coach Debbie was highlighted as an Honoree for Education and Empowerment at the National Coalition of 100 Black Women (NCBW) South Palm Beach County Chapter annual awards luncheon. The NCBW selected Debbie for being a Servant Leader and conducting tireless work as a Mental Health Advocate in diverse communities. Debbie was among 8 other highly accomplished Honorees from various fields and backgrounds. Debbie inspired the gathering with a story of a close family member who struggles with depression and had thoughts of suicide. She also dispelled common myths of mental health and shared the importance of having a mental check up with a Counselor just as many people have frequent check up's for their physical health with a primary care doctor.
"Your life matters and you are a needed part of this world... remember, your mental health is all about your brain health, and your social and emotional state of being is just as important as your physical being." - Coach Debbie
