Can't Sleep? Meditate


Marshall Segall, Staff writer for Desiring God, says that, “If God keeps us up late at night, or wakes us before the sun comes up, it may be because something is more important than sleep. He knows when we need to rest, and he knows when we need to meditate and pray. He may graciously open our eyes long before the alarm goes off, to give us another glimpse of his majesty to enjoy or to open his ears wide to the burdens we brought to bed.”


Meditation is not just about focusing or emptying your mind. It’s pausing, breathing, and embracing passion that ignites our pursuit of God. Meditation is motivation. It’s attentive, thoughtful, tenacious, exposed love.


When you feel restless, our team has scripture to heal ease your soul and mind:


“but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night.” – Psalm 1:2


“But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” – Matthew 6:6


“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” – Philippians 4:8


“I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways.” Psalm 119: 15
